Mom and Me Princess Tea Party

Back in April, Ava had a tea party for the 3 year old girls and their Mom's at the school. We sat down and hat hats and pearls to wear and ate sandwiches and cupcakes and split into groups for the centers they had set up. They had a princess movie, coloring, baby and me tea party, story time, and glam center. Ava had lots of fun expect with the meltdown, because she forgot to bring her baby. eventually she got over it and had a good time!!She was excited because her hat matched her dress All the yummy goodies.

Contestant # 8...

As most of you that know me I was in a few pageants in high school and I love to get all dressed up. So, of course I wanted to have my little girl try it too. A couple of weekends ago I put Ava in the Miss Zachary pageant that is held before ZFest every year. This is not one of those glitzy pageants. Ava wore a blue and white ticking stripe dress and a I curled her hair and gave her some makeup. That was one of her favorite parts...the makeup and hair!! WE had been practicing for a couple of weeks on what she was suppose to do. I was hoping that she would not be shy, because that is not her. She got up on stage and it took her a few minutes to get sure about it all and then she spun around and blew kisses and waved just like we practiced. She did so good. They gave out quite a few award and Ava won two of them...Best Personality, which she got a trophy (just like Mason), and 3rd Runner up, which she got a crown! She was so cute and did such a great job! Thank to Gamma and Huck, and Uncle James and Aunt Heidi for coming to watch me!!!

Notice her hair was curly and then by the time we got there it all fell out!! She still looked beautiful as every though! Masking her turns on stage!
The girls lined up and Ava noticed everyone in the crowd!

Getting her award for best personality!

Trying take a picture of 7 or so little girls taht had won...not a easy task!!

Ava's playdate

Since Mason is older...he has friends come over quite often and Ava always asks for someone to come over and play. Just recently she has been begging for Eve to come play. Eve goes to our same church and her older sister plays on Mason's soccer team, she is also the daughter of our WONDERFUL Pediatrician, Dr. Talbot! Ava and Eve play alot at soccer games and after church! One Sunday after church we decided to have Eve come over and play...and boy did they have fun!! Ava was excited to have one of her friends over just like Mason does!!! They played baby dolls and played outside!!! Those two are like two peas in a pod!!!

Signs that Spring is Near!!!

As I was outside with kids yesterday...I decided to examine my flower beds and plants for new growth. I was pleasantly surprised that we have so many things budding around our house. I always welcome Spring time...with the expectation of allergies! This is probably one of my favorite times of year, because of all of the plants and flowers blooming...it just make everything so colorful! I have taken some pictures of what is blooming at my house.
Last fall I decided to plant some Tulip bulbs around the house...although I have never planted them before, I was very excited to see them popping out of the ground. They are suppose to be a bright pink/red color..we will see!! The only thing now is...we can't have any more freezing temperatures. I also have to watch the kids because they sometimes go stomping through the flowerbeds and some of the tulips are hard to see right now.
These are my Indian Hawthorns and as you can see they have tons of new blooms on them.

Here are my "Witch Hazels"...I don't really know the proper name for them but that is what I have always called them. They are producing those spidery pink flowers.

This is my Knockout Rose Bush that I have on the corner of my house...that I can view from my kitchen window. These are probably my favorite. These was the first time in probably a year that we cut them back. I did not get a chance to get a before picture, but they were taller than the 6ft. fence and pretty wide. My Mother-in-Law has been telling me that we are suppose to cut them back twice a year, but I could not bring myself to do it. So February was the month that you are suppose to cut them. They were so pretty and we chopped them down...hopefully they grow back. She says they grow back thicker and prettier. We shall see.

This is my Hydrangea, with bluish purplish flowers. This is another favorite of mine. I do not cut this bush back, because it grows new buds on the same stems. If you looks closely you can see the green buds.....

...here is the buds closer.

And so this weekend will be the first of the season that Josh gets outside to mow the grass. our backyard is a little weeder than most but it is obvious that Spring is upon us.....

Happy Spring!!!!!

Pinkalicious!!!

Along with the Mardi Gras Ball, I had also got tickets to the musical of the book "Pinkalicious" for Ava and I to go see. We decided to make it something special for just Ava and myself. We started off at lunch downtown at Capitol City Grill. Ava definitely thought eating lunch with just Mommy was pretty cool. After we enjoyed lunch we walked over to the theatre where we met some friends from the playgroup to watch the show with. The whole time she was so very still and her eyes never left the stage. This is probably the only time I have ever seen her this still and not even say anything during the whole show. The show was great and it even got the audience involved. Afterwards we hung around to get autographs in her book and then attended a "Pink Cupcake Party" who we also got to see Pinkalicious and take our picture with. It was alot of pink everywhere but was so much fun. I really enjoyed that Ava and I could do that together...just us two. When Abby gets older she can join too!!! Ava and Maggie

Mardis Gras 2011

This year Josh and I received and awesome invitation from some friends of ours to attend the Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler Mardi Gras Ball. The theme was The board games we play...so everyone's table depicted a board game. It was so neat to see everything so decorated and lit up. We got to wear formal gowns and tuxes and I even got to go get my hair done. I was in heaven for those of you that know me....I love this kind of stuff. Josh and I had a blast and maybe next time we can attend again!!! We had some friends come oer and take pictures of us...it kind of felt like prom or homecoming all over again.

Like a bird flying south for the winter!

As many of you know, my Mom (or as the kids call her, Ducky) lives near Chicago. Recently they received one of the worst blizzards that, that area has seen in a long time. It so happen that my had schedule to come down almost immediately after the blizzard happened. She really needed to thaw out and Dad (Papa) had to work in North Carolina for a few days. She actually got very lucky because the week she came down was when our weather started to get really nice. I was really glad that Mom was able to have that and that we were able to take the kids on walks and play outside. It was a normal, busy week, but Mom just followed along with us.

Thanks Ducky for coming to visit us...can't wait to come see you in a couple of months!!!!Love You!!

Sew, Gamma, Sew

Gamma has been looking for some outfits that are easy to sew for the girls and this is one of them. I love it. It looks precious on Ava and she loves it too. She has also recently made some for Abby that we should get this week. I really like that Gamma can sew and enjoys sewing for the girls. It is more personalized when she does versus me buying it at the store!! So, Thank You Gamma for sewing some really cute clothes!!!

January...

I know it has been awhile since I have posted but things around the Huckabee house has been crazy!!! To start off....the kids just can't seem to stay well. They all three got a fever virus right when school started back that last about a week each, then Ava and Abby (at different times) got Pink eye, Ava also got an ear infection, and then 2 days ago Abby was up all night with a stomach bug, which passed on to Ava and then to Mason! I am crossing my finger that Josh or myslef do not get it!!

Mason is still playing basketball and I think he is still enjoying it. Gamma and Huck came to watch last weekend and Gamma thought he was a team player. He is very good about passing the ball if he needs to and does fairly well at dribbling and shooting! He starts soccer at the end of February and along with his Daddy they are pretty excited about starting!

Just recently Mason had his awards ceremony at school honor kids for the past 2 nine weeks. Mason recieved A honor roll, Champions of conduct (A in conduct), Perfect Attendance...all of those in both nine weeks. Can you say...I was a little proud of my boy!!! He does so great in school and his teachers always comment on how fast he learns! He gets all of this, though from his Daddy...got to give credit where credit is due!!

For Christmas Mason recieved a guitar from Santa and this past weekend while Nunc was at our house he gave Mason some short, impromptu lessons. He even wrote down some notes for Mason to practice! Thanks Nunc!!

Basketball Season!!!

Mason was all pumped up for his first Basketball game this past Saturday. He is playing in the First Baptist Church league here in Zachary, it is called Upward and it is a great program. I love that half way through practice each week they stop to have a fellowship time and learn bible verses. They also during the game stop at half time to have a short bible story. It is really great and positive for the kids.
When I asked Mason if he wanted to play basketball all i could think of was my brother, Mark E. playing at about Mason's age and how hilarious it was. So far he has not taken after his uncle Mark E. Mason has really hasn't gotten the whole idea of the game yet...he thinks that no matter what end of the court you are on they can pass it to him and he can make a basket. Anyway he is really cute and i hope you enjoy the video. He is number 14!
This was Mason during the opening ceremony.
This is where Daddy and Abby watch...so that Abby can run around upstairs and Daddy can still watch Mason. This is like a track that runs the perimeter of the courts.

You see the cheerleaders behind Mason, that is what Ava watched the whole time. She kept telling me that she wants to cheer like them when she gets older.

Minus one tooth

Mason lost his first tooth tonight when he and Ava were playing and his knee caught his mouth. He came running in the living room and yelling " Mommy my tooth fell out". I looked up at him and he had blood running down his chin. He said it did not hurt really. I think it was bleeding bunch because his knee hit his mouth. He was ecstatic. I can't believe he is already loosing teeth...WOW he is growing up!!!! Mason missing a tooth
If you notice (click on the picture to see closer) he already had his permant tooth coming in and was half way in already. It is further in the back of were the baby tooth was. Looks like braces might be in our future!!

Mason little tooth!
